Objectives:
· Build the student's
personality and develop his/her scientific and practical research in a
distinguished way.
· Delivery and building a new knowledge related to Finance major scientifically
and practically in by using sophisticated analysis and quantitative methods.
· Contribute to meeting the needs of the Saudi labor market in the field of
finance.
· Focus on the practical side of the field of finance.
Methods to achieve the goals:
For the purpose of achieving the objectives, the Finance Department depends on
a number of the principals, namely:
1 - Relying on faculty who are academically qualified and produce high standard
research published in well-known journals.
2 - Using advanced technology (computer - internet - specialized programs-
virtual trading room) in teaching finance courses.
3 – Using English in teaching all courses to comply with the global standard of
higher education.
4 - Choosing latest resources and materials from well-regarded publishers who
continually develop and update the materials in the field finance.
5 - Ongoing interest about the applied research for the department’s students as
an integral part of graduation requirements.
6 - Follow-up and ongoing periodic review of the study plan in terms of addition
or exclusion of courses or amendment in the academic courses commensurate with
the need to accommodate the latest scientific and global development.
7 - Engaging students in scientific seminars and visits to selected sites to
develop their experience, their abilities and their potential scientific and
practical.
8 – Establishing connections and network with well-known companies to train and
provide internships for our senior students.
The relationship between the Department goals and the faculty goals:
Faculty of Economics and Administration at King Abdul Aziz university aims to
qualify students enrolled in the fundamental concepts in many disciplines such
as business management, public administration, accounting, economics, policy and
law with the focus on quality through the modern and developed curricula on
scientific theories and practical applications related to the environment of
Saudi Arabia in order to supply the need of specialists in various
fields. Recently, Finance is one of the most important majors in business where
it has gained tremendous interest from various business schools in developed
countries.
In order to keep up with the recent developments in the curricula of education
and the urgent need to link the administrative aspects with the financial
aspects, finance major created to provide the financial tools to the business
environment through administrative system to integrate the business
administration, investment and financial environment; and thus, to enable the
management to achieve its objectives.
Also it contributes in the research which is concerned with the issues of
society, both in the stages of gathering information from sources or analysis,
or publication and dissemination of the results of each intellectual
contributions which is consistent with the goal of the Faculty of Economics and
Business Administration in developing environment of scientific research that
benefits the community in all various business administrations areas taught at
the Faculty.
Future objectives of the department:
The Finance Department looks forward to:
1 - Development of the students potentials academically and practically to
respond to the needs of markets locally and regionally through developing the
study plan and taking into account the most important academic developments in
finance area.
2 – Building a network and close relation between the department and the
different institutions of society, this would contribute to overcoming the
obstacles to which the graduates can be exposed in their career and to serve the
local community institutions.
3 - Follow-up extensively the use of advanced technology in teaching and
academic sites (the computer and the Internet) and the high end equipment, halls
and other necessary requirements.
4 - Focus on hosting scientific seminars from outside the university, as well as
expanding students' visits to sites related to their fields of study.
5 -
Development of the scientific research conducted by students and link them to
the businesses to address the most important problems that require study and
scientific analysis.
6 - Developing and improving students' abilities related to the training program
or internship to gain necessarily experience and required skills, which helps to
provide better employment opportunities.
